Emerald Giant, Giant Marconi, golden marconi, red marconi, Chablis Hybrid, Orange Bell, King of the North, Papper Ozark Giant, Gypsy, Golden treasure, Big Bertha and Carmen. I tried to keep each one under 12 seeds. All of the heirlooms come from Bakers’ seeds. Last year the Giant Marconi were out of this world!

Had to replant all the tomatoes.Got rid of those peat pots and made pots out of newspaper.They seem to be working much better.Got all my lettuces planted and ended up getting more heirloom seeds.Dave’s decided to take on the project of building a grill patio but we have had way too much rain,so the materials sit.Been going through a lot lately…[Read more]

aw, sorry you lost your first batch of tomatoes. I am seeding some more today too. I wasn’t sure if it was too late to start but asked a master gardener who said “no, now is the perfect time to start them for a May 31 planting”.

I am sorry to hear about your ”friends”. We have all had that happen. We are always here! Like Wendy said we try for anytime after 8:30pm. What happened with your tomatoes that they didn’t work?

I’m sorry to hear about your tomatoes. I”m not a big fan of peat pots either. They dry out very quickly. It’s hard to keep the soil in them from either being dry or soaking wet.
I’m sorry to hear about your ”friends”, but you have a lot here to!

Hubby grilled out again today with some new pork seasoning he bought.My tomato seedlings are withering.Still too cold to put anything outside. are your tomato seedlings getting too big for the container they are in? That is usually the culprit.

Good point! I do stand in the aisle too and calculate things out by the ounce or lb. or whatever unit they are using. It’s amazing what you think is a good deal is even better in a different size.

They like to put sales on larger items, but if you calculate it out.. most of the time you can get two smaller packages of the item and it is cheaper. Last year the wind blew my little greenhouse over full of all my seed flats. I scooped up all the dirt and threw it in a 5 gallon bucket and before I knew it there were tons of seedlings coming up in there. It was a surprise to see what they all turned out to be.

Tea Milk Bath(good also for sensitive skin)
1/2c. cornstarch
1c. dry milk
1/2c. dry old-fashioned oatmeal(you can use quick cook also)
2t. green tea leaves

Apple Pie In A Jar
7 quarts peeled,sliced cooking apples
4 1/2c.sugar
1c.cornstarch
2t.cinnamon
1/4t.nutmeg

Yep,hubby upgraded.It was on sale for $92(tax refund money) and has cast iron grates.We figured it was time and it was something we needed especially since electric is going up soon.We like using charcoal or wood instead of gas.No funny taste then and a lot healthier.Can’t wait for him to smoke some salmon.I’m drooling already.
