Starting plants and more plants. So far they are all in the house. Now I take the bigger ones out to the garage and transplant and then back to the house!! We just can’t seem to get above 42 and stay there! The garden is 99% bare but cold soil. How are you all doing?
-
It’s suppose to warm up here this week, but it’s going to rain for most of it.
I know we need the water though. I will be happy when the ground dries up enough to plant a bit. -
Good to see you are getting the garden going. Snow still here on the ground. Don’t think I’ll be able to put one in this year.
-
Most of the snow melted here today. It got to 61 degrees! Tomorrow only 50. The garden is a mud pit. I won’t be getting in there for quite awhile. More rain coming this week and next.

Cindy replied to the forum topic What are your garden plans? in the group Over the Garden Fence April 7, 2013 6:33 pm
We have big garden plans this year. The stores are higher and higher in prices and lower in quality. Finally my boxes (cold frames) are thawed out so I can seriously plan on starting some cool weather […]

I can’t wait to take a picture of something green!! Right now I have lots of plants germinating and more to sow. The snow is very slowly melting this year! Can’t wait to be in the greenhouse!

Well, we are heading into March. I’m really happy about it but a little sad. Will miss the indoor time to get some bigger projects done. But on the other hand I wouldn’t miss wearing boots, mittens, heavy coat, hat etc. every time I need to go outside! I so look forward to fresh food again especially salad fixings!

Starting to get over it now!! View
Hope you are better now. We have upper respiratory flu here! You can probably hear the wheezing up there!

I too am planning the garden. I am trying to extend the growing season into early spring and late fall with our cold frames. That will mostly spinach, lettuces, radishes and other cool weather crops.
Some of my favorite varieties are the Bonny Best tomatoes, Mountain Fresh Tomatoes, Amish paste, San Marzano and hogheart paste. These have worked…[Read more]-
I think animals are one of the best weather predictors you can get! I need to find a place to get my light stand set up soon. I would like to try starting the peppers really early this year and see if that helps. My onion seeds to! Last year I had it out in the summer kitchen but dh has emptied that room as he’s sanding the drywall now. It…[Read more]

Pouring over the seed catalogs and reading everything. So much to look at. Trying to find flowers too to draw in bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. I want to start more in the greenhouse. How are all of you?

I would like to start it up earlier in the spring then run it again into the fall. You can plant spinach too. Haven’t worked on seed orders yet.

Well, my cold frame growing has come to an end. Oh well, got an extra 2 months of growing lettuce, onions, etc in them. Learned a lot about doing this as well. It needs sun to keep the heat. This week our temperatures hoovered around 30 -35 and at night dropped into the low 20s. Had a couple of teens too. So the ground started freezing in…[Read more]

the few extra months must have been wonderful! I am already excited about starting seed. I am starting perennial seeds in January and will start the harder to germinate things like peppers and tomatoes in February. It will be interesting to see what the 2013 gardening season will hold. I have my seed orders all ready to send to Baker’s and…[Read more]

Does anyone else get Countryside Magazine? In the Jan/Feb issue there is an extensive article on the plant life cycle. He uses tomato plants but it works for all plants. He waters with a pvc pipe in the ground. I am sure you can find this on their website. He also puts tires around each plant and mulches deeply. Very informative

It is already December 13th!! Where is the time flying to? How many seed catalogs to you all have? I have a few. My favorites have arrived – Baker Creek, Johnny’s, Fedco to name a few.
