Well, the gardens are planted! Things are growing but at a steady slow rate. This years weather has been so strange… warm then cold, dry then wet. Its mid June and I can go outside at night and see my breath!!! I will say this though, the cooler temps have seemed to keep the garden pests at bay. For that I am incredibly thankful. The ants…[Read more]

  • Well, we’re practically neighbors then! ;) Yes, I do love Kim’s blog and videos! I stumbled across her videos about 3 years ago and have been a faithful watcher/reader ever since! I feel so at home with her […]

  • Goodness it does sound like she was trying to keep you all guessing! lol I’m sure it’s fun to go back and look at pics of her during all her changing colors!

  • Looks like a beautiful place for a nature walk! The weather here (in SE Indiana) has been beautiful as well and we’ve enjoyed getting out in our yard and woods. Our girls love just wondering around and exploring […]

Its been a slow start to getting the garden in, but slow is better than never. Just have a few things left to plant and it should be good to go. Hoping to get them all in today before the rain comes again.

    • That’s great Wendy! I have a few herbs left to get into the garden. We are mostly working on bringing in mulch now.

My garden isn’t even in yet. Between the snow and cold and then the rain…today maybe I’ll get something in. My herbs are doing great and the garlic is growing. This could be a good year for cold weather crops. :)

    • Aww I’m sorry the weather is being fussy! We’ve had quite the year here so far to. We go from very hot to very cold in just a few days. Today is the hottest day of the year so far, 34C with the humidity factored in.

      • We have had the same thing here! Tomorrow is suppose to be up to 80, and near 80 on Saturday then back to 58 on Sunday! It’s crazy!!!! I am just getting the garden in here, but have hesitated with the peppers and tomatoes due to the severe changes in temps… We just had frost again the other night!

        • It’s crazy isn’t it! Our past few nights have been quite cold. I don’t think we had frost though.

          • Its been like a roller coaster here with the weather. Rainy, cold one day, hot the next… Things are not growing very well right now with this. I have had to transplant some of the tomatoes 3 times now because of either getting frosted, or it rains with high wind and kills them.

            • Yes our weather has been the same. :( So far the plants are hanging on but some are stressed. We were suppose to have an average temp and wet summer. But it’s looking more like another cold and wet year!

  • We are starting to get some squash coming up, the tomatoes and pepper plants have been moved out and cukes are coming up too. Also, we are growing herbs, I want grow and harvest what we need instead of buy it from […]

  • Kim, I use LINUX Slackware and love it. Too bad about the spellchecker, it is something that I use all the time.

Lifting prayers to Lord for those injured in the Boston Marathon bombing and for the family and friends of those who died. May the Lord make the identity of those responsible known and may they be help accountable for the pain they have caused.

I have most of my seeds started and many have germinated. I started Amish Paste tomatoes, Rutgers, Chadwick Cherry, one other I can’t think of right now… a northern variety onion as well as stuttgarter, multi colored bell peppers, mini bell peppers, paprika pepper, hot and sweet cherry peppers, anaheim pepper, cayenne pepper…. Flowers: …[Read more]

    • That sounds great Wendy! I have more to start maybe today. Still waiting for my last batch to come up!

Starting plants and more plants. So far they are all in the house. Now I take the bigger ones out to the garage and transplant and then back to the house!! We just can’t seem to get above 42 and stay there! The garden is 99% bare but cold soil. How are you all doing?

    • It’s suppose to warm up here this week, but it’s going to rain for most of it. :( I know we need the water though. I will be happy when the ground dries up enough to plant a bit.

    • Good to see you are getting the garden going. Snow still here on the ground. Don’t think I’ll be able to put one in this year.

    • Most of the snow melted here today. It got to 61 degrees! Tomorrow only 50. The garden is a mud pit. I won’t be getting in there for quite awhile. More rain coming this week and next.

  • We have big garden plans this year.  The stores are higher and higher in prices and lower in quality.  Finally my boxes  (cold frames)  are thawed out so I can seriously plan on starting some cool weather […]
