I’d love to hear about the different types of fruit trees everyone grows, the varieties, and what your favorites are in your collection, etc.

I am fortunate to live in an IDEAL location (Oceanside, CA) for growing just about everything and anything (especially WEEDS!!!) lol.  Cry  We have no snow, supposedly no frost (although I do get it about once or twice a year enough to kill my tomatoes, but not until LATE Dec or Jan).

I bought my current house in Sept of 2009, and began my venture into gardening (especially planting/growing fruit trees) in January of 2010.  I live in a home built in the 70′s… the lot is a standard size for that era for a house in the suburbs.  A LOT of it is on a very steep slope that was covered in ice plant when I moved in.  I put in raised bed terraces on the slope and have squeezed in a LARGE variety of fruit.  I keep them all 8 feet or shorter, otherwise I’d have to sleep in a tree house!

So… I thought you might want to see the “Fruit Trees I Grow“.  My Pinterest site mentions my favorites and a little about each type.

What are do you grow and where do you live???

There were two semi dwarf apple trees on this property when we bought it 8 years ago.  They do produce well most years but badly need to be pruned.  We are hoping to get to that this year!  I don’t know what types they are.  One produces very tasty apples that turn red when cooked.  It makes amazing apple sauce!  The other tree has larger sized apples.

There is also a cherry tree, but it has never produced well.  This year all the blossoms were hit in our cold spell a few weeks back.  Frown

I put in a plum tree and two peach trees a few years ago.  The plum hasn’t produced anything yet.  Hubby killed one of my peach trees lol, had a little accident with the lawn mower.  The other one is growing well and we had two peaches off it last year!  I’m not sure what type the peach and plum are, I’ll have to check them later.
