The hens are finally starting to resume laying. I guess they can cope with 90s but not 100s in temperatures. Have any of you checked the price of chicken feed? Its gone up a dollar a bag here already. That is not a feed mill which I am sure is much higher.

Feed has gone up another 50 cents this week here, and is suppose to go up another 4% in August.

Ordered 40 new meat birds for August 21 delivery. Better start preparing now for 8 weeks of feed bill torture!

Yesterday our new roosters who are only 4 months old tried out their adolescent voices. I wish you could have all heard them. Far from a mature cockadoodledo! One of them even scared himself and looked around as to who made the noise! Wish you all could have been here to hear the yodel!

I have 8 hens that have been on vacation for several weeks from laying. I think they are the ones in the backyard with sunglasses and laying in the sun! Is there anything I can do to get them to lay again? I have explained to them that I need the eggs. They aren’t molting. I am out of ideas!
