Hi there - I just watched your video. I have never successfully crocheted before but your video is so easy to understand that I am excited to give this a try. I know this is a cheesy question, but about how many yards of yarn does it take to do one of these? I have a bunch of leftover yarn from weaving scarves and I didn't know if I had enough to do a hat or if I needed to start with a fresh skein. Thanks a bunch for your help - your video rocked!!

I'm sorry for the late reply! Yes you can still use this pattern with a smaller hook size. You just make a chain that is 12 inches long, then start working the pattern. I can't tell you an exact number of stitches per row because it will be a bit different depending on what type of yarn and hook size you are doing. But most adult hats are about 12 inches tall, giving room for a rim to turn up.

We ended up with around 2ft of snow...it has stopped snowing but now the temperature as dipped to -14...and that is very cold for us.

Kids were home from school yesterday but school was open today...hopefully no one freezes. Tried to send them out with us many layers as possible. Now we are getting a huge wind storm and everything is blowing off the roof...sometimes we cannot even see the neighbours homes.

Thankfully dh can work from home...been doing that all week.

Very grateful to be home...dealing with some sad family news right now...and so being home is good...house is quiet...grandson sleeping and just too down for much else. Bread in the breadmaker...and spaghetti sauce on the stove for dinner.

We are blessed.

I pray you are all doing well.

Hugs,
Connie
