Well I guess I spoke to soon.  Less then an hour after posting last night about the lack of snow…yup it started snowing! LOL  We’ve been getting squalls all night, about 6 inches so far.  They are saying we might get up to 60 cm (2  feet) of snow in the next 24 hours.  Again today all the busses in the area were cancelled and most of the schools closed.  I bet the kids are all thrilled to have two snow days in a row.  That’s one thing I do like about homeschooling.  When the weathers bad we carry on as normal here.  But when the winds calm and the day is nice we can have a real snow day and get out and play.
Right now the snow is coming down very heavy, you can hardly see out the window!

Well the storm passed with out giving us much more then strong wind, a dusting of snow and lots of rain.  It rained most of the afternoon and washed away half the snow in our yard.  But about 4pm the wind switched to the west and started to snow again.  We are out of the storm warning, but still under a snow squall warning for today and tomorrow.  The winds are suppose to be 60km/h gusting to 90km/h much like last night.  But the house feels much warmer now.  When we have east winds it always gets so cold hear.  Wood stoves been going strong all day and I’m so glad for it!

Hubbys napping, he’s bushed.  He was working all day taking huge logs out of the bush and up to the shop for a farmer.  He came home soaked and cold from the rain/snow.  Nut, but he loves that kind of work. I’m not a cold weather person, it just hurts my joints to much.  He loves all the elements.
He has tomorrow off, so he’s planning to work in the summer kitchen all day.  He still has lots to do out there.

I have almost 3 inches done on the balaclava.  I would be farther along, but dd2 was very fussy this afternoon.  She decided Momma must hold and cuddle her all afternoon.  I just wish I could have convinced her to nap with me.  lol

I promised the little ones, tomorrow we would bake some cookies.  We’ll probably start with hubbys favorites peanut butter chocolate chip.  Maybe do some gingerbread ones to.  It depends how much energy I have lol.  But either way I have Sunday planned as a baking day with the kids to.  In my order from Christianbook.com the kids surprise pack included some mini gingerbread house cookie cutters.  I want to try  making some mini houses with the girls.  I bet they will love that.  I need to get some candies to decorate them with.

We are under a winter storm warning…Some time tonight it’s suppose to start.  I wonder if I should believe them this time? LOL  We are suppose to get 10 to 15 cm of snow with high winds, then rain tomorrow, then a flash freeze and more snow.  That will be a nice icy mess eh?

Yesterday I decided to tackle some of the carrots we harvested.  I peeled and cut about 3/4′s of a sink full.  And messed up my shoulder again. (sigh) LOL So I put the carrots in a pot of cold water over night.  I just put them in the canner now.  Don’t ask me how many carrots I have left to can! LOL!!!  What a mixed up garden/weather year it was.  They should have been ready to can in Aug. but they weren’t until Oct.

Hubby just came in saying how cold it was outside.  That the east wind has started.  I wonder how much longer till the snow starts….

Oh yes, yesterday I got dh to take me to Walmart.  And this one was pretty much out of black fleece to! LOL  Starting to laugh yet?  I got the woman to measure out the tiny bit left and it was 3 inches short of a meter.  Also the one end had a big half circle cut out of it….That just wouldn’t do for a blanket backing lol.  So I found a nice winter tree print and a solid blue.  I’ll use that to make one, and I’m hoping I have enough of the other prints to make a backing from…I have to pull them out tomorrow and see.

I did find some pretty light yellow fleece remnants at a great price though.  They will make some nice longies for dd.

Well today was our first day of the season under snow squall warnings.  We did get some real heavy squalls and dh said the roads were very slippery.  But we didn’t get the 30 cm (1 foot) of snow they said this morning we would get.  Last time I looked we had almost 3 inches.
But the girls had a wonderful time playing in the snow this afternoon!  No photos unfortunately, dh had the camera out with him.  Maybe tomorrow!  Snow is suppose to stick around until mid week when it’s going to rain. BUT the next day we’re back to cold snowy weather.  I’m thinking we will have a white Christmas after all.
I managed to fit in a little knitting this afternoon.  I’m halfway done another doll leg.  I hope to finish that tonight and the arms tomorrow.  Then the wee doll needs some clothes!
We have to do some of our bulk shopping this weekend.  So I’ll have some time to knit in the van as well.  I might start on hat to take with us.
One thing on my list is new snow pants for dd7.  I got them out today and oh my  has she ever grown taller this year!  They were ok for today but just will not due for all winter.  Funny because the coat fits just fine.  But she’s our tall girl.
I also need some Christmas baking goodies on top of our normal staples.  A bit of fabric to finish up a few gifts is on my list as well.
Dh was working on our old snow blower yesterday and just can’t get it to start.  We had so much trouble with it last year, it was beyond not funny.  So he decided to replace it with a new one today.  It sure works great!  Hopefully it will give us many, many years of service.  Our other old snow blower was built 1976 and a real work horse.  At its age it doesn’t owe anyone anything.  But perhaps when dh has the time to completely rebuild it, it will be put to good use again.

It rained here most of the night.  At some point the wind changed to the North West and the temperatures dropped.  You could really hear it howling.  It rained on and off today, I was very glad to have the wood stove burning a way.

They put us under a snow squall warning for tonight and tomorrow.  Up to 15 cm by tomorrow night, that’s about half a foot.  Dh was outside a little while ago and said there is 1/2 inch already on the ground.  The little ones will be thrilled!

We just got our van back from the shop to day.  Ack!  They are money suckers aren’t they….(sigh). We had dh’s work van in the shop last week to.

I did a little knitting this afternoon.  Managed to finish a doll leg.  Its hard to work and not let the little ones see what your making! LOL
