Wow has the weather ever changed this past week. We started March off with weather in the 20′s C, truly it felt more like early June weather! Now we are back to near 0 C temps and strong winds. Yesterday we had another wind storm here and our power went out about 7pm. It came back on a few min latter and we thought ok, not a big deal. I think it staid on for 20 minutes before going back off until almost 10pm. Not a big deal and we enjoyed a quiet evening.
This morning we woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground. The wind chill last night was below 0, so I wasn’t surprised. They are saying we will get more snow today and tomorrow. I wonder how much we will end up with. Hopefully not a lot, I really want to get back out in the garden.
Seedlings are coming along in the greenhouse. I have an electric heater running out there, trying to keep it warm. This has worked ok for us in the past. Germination seems to be on hold as the plants know it’s not really warm enough to come up yet. But all the tomatoes and flowers that had already sprouted are holding their own. Some of the tomatoes are needing to be transplanted soon. They have a few true leaves on them and their roots are just starting to grow through the paper pots. Perhaps I’ll get to that this weekend.
What have you been up to on your homestead? Are you enjoying nice weather or back to winter?
