Well our root cellar is all packed in for winter.  I’m still working on canning and freezing.

Does anyone have a good freezer coleslaw recipe?  Are russet apples good for baking?  I haven’t been able to find any info on them.

Well fall is here and its time to harvest our potatoes!
We have found that storing them in mesh feed bags works the best for us.

Well fall is here and with it harvest time.  We have started digging up our potatoes and getting the root cellar ready.  So far we’ve harvested about 500 pounds of red and purple potatoes.  We will be finishing the purples this week and then starting on the white potatoes.

Well the summer temperatures have finally started. But we are busy getting ready for winter. We have found a number of stores that will give away skids/pallets for free, they make great firewood.

All the potatoes are flowering up.

Is gold and silver a safe haven or dead weight?  Some discussion on the mater open to suggestion and debate.

Potatoes are an easy crop to grow.
Till the area well, do not add fresh manure this can cause scabbing on the skins.
Cut potatoes into small pieces with 2 or 3 eyes per potato.
Plant 6 to 8 inches apart 4 inches deep.
Cover with soil.
When the plants are 6 inches tall hill the dirt up around them.
