I can’t wait to try making these rolls! I’ve wanted to make homemade rolls for Thanksgiving, but I’m always afraid of bread failure. Maybe I’ll make a batch tomorrow, just to test out…and eat with the yummy local butter I just picked up! Thanks for sharing!

Julie, I would love to hear how they turn out for you! I’ve been making them a lot here lately. It’s always a good idea to try out a new recipe a head of time though!
Thanks for sharing your recipie with all of us. Also, it was kind of you to make the time to read my post in my “journal” about homestading or farming and to make the time to share your thoughts. I hope you have a great weekend with your family. Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend to! I loved reading your blog and look forward to visiting again.
I have not been to successful with breadmaking. however I’m willing to try again and so have my breadmaker working away at the dough for your dinner rolls right now and I’ll let you know how they turn out. Thankyou for sharing your recipe.

Hi Gail! I hope your dinner rolls turned out great for you!
Hi Kim,
Yes they are a winner. Everyone thought they were terrific and my husband was especially impressed when they were still so fresh this morning. Just a couple of quick questions. Is it possible to use less sugar or could I use the equivalent in honey? I noticed you use honey in your basic loaf. That is what I will be trying next. Also how do I achieve a crusty top? That’s one thing my husband likes. I’m enjoying your site and again thank you for your kindness and the effort you put into your clips.
Yes you can sub honey. To get a crispy crust on bread put a pan of water on the bottom rack of your oven. The steam helps to draw the moisture out of the crust.
It seems to work the best if you put a shallow pan and about a cup of water in the oven. Let it heat up to about 425F then put the rolls in and turn the temp down to 350F.
Hi Kim,
Just watched this post. Boy am I behind the times. Just a quick hint: I’m sure you make bread often… like happens here in our home. I don’t have a brush for brushing the bread with butter and I use to use the fork idea too, but found it much easier to keep a stick of butter in the door to the refrigerator that I use for this purpose. Just tear the paper off one end and rub on your bread…. wala, butter bread, clean hands and no utensils to wash!
That’s a good idea Wendy!
